What must we do to change the world, to set things right, to enact reconciliation? Paul's pronouncement is that we do not have to do anything. We must simply be a reconciled people. God has already done the work in Christ. Therefore we are no longer strangers, no longer far away from one another, no longer enemies. All of our divisions are illusions, signs of the old world that we proclaim is passing away. Paul commands us to be reconciled. This is our new reality, and our only good news.
